When to Use Each of the Hyundai Drive Modes

Maximize Your Drive with Hyundai Drive Modes

With every Hyundai model, you're getting a standout vehicle that offers plenty of comfort and quality features, along with different driving modes that help you use your Hyundai in many driving situations. We're here at Fox Hyundai in Grand Rapids to provide you with an overview of each driving mode so you can ride with added confidence.

ECO Mode

With Eco Mode, you'll find that it works to optimize fuel efficiency by softening throttle response and calming the acceleration so you get the most out of your Hyundai. It's best used in stop-and-go traffic, making it a good option when you commute daily but don't need much performance.

Normal Mode

Normal Mode is the default option, as it provides balanced steering and throttle and is designed for comfort. It's the standard for everyday driving and mixed-use on city streets and interstate highways, and one most drivers use most often in Grand Rapids and beyond.

Sport Mode

For those who want a sharper throttle, tighter steering and quick acceleration, Sport Mode is available. It's useful on winding roads, passing slower traffic, and getting on and off highways. It improves your steering feedback and gives you a drive with some added enhancement and thrills.

My Drive (Custom Mode)

For those who want to customize the experience, some Hyundai models come equipped with My Drive, which allows you to find the right balance as you switch between driving modes to get the right power and other driving dynamics.

Terrain Mode

Available on select trims, Terrain Modes allow your AWD-equipped Hyundai to navigate slippery services with ease. Whether you consider yourself an adventurous driver or just want to feel more secure during your winter commute, Terrain Mode is for you.

Terrain Mode: Snow Mode

If you have a Hyundai with AWD, you can find Snow Mode onboard which will help reduce wheel slip and adjusts torque distribution in snowy and icy weather conditions. It's good to use when driving on packed snow or icy roads, and makes sense for Michigan winters when equipped with winter tires, as we recommend here at Fox Hyundai.

Terrain Mode: Mud Mode

You will find that Mud Mode enhances the traction in deep and slippery mud on options like the Palisade XRT Pro trim, and is useful when needing to go off the beaten path or in wet fields, which when the spring thaw comes, or after a long rainstorm, will come in handy.

Terrain Mode: Sand Mode

If you're headed up the Lakeshore to enjoy the beaches, you want to make sure that you're not stuck in the sand. This mode prevents the wheels from digging in by maintaining higher wheel-spin thresholds and adding torque to provide more power and grip.
